Default Ventilation - 27-11-2011, 05:01 PM

I was given a 2x1 foot viv as a fixer-upper a while ago, which, if my calculations is right, is a 10 gal?

If so, I was wondering about ventilation for leos. In an online care sheet I read that the front vents need to be lower, and the back vents higher, but I haven't seen anything that says whether I should be putting in round or long vents, and how many.

Any suggestions on which vents to get, where to put them, and if there are any highly recommended tools (I've seen a drill bit on ebay, but always willing to listen to someone who's done it before!), would be very greatly appreciated!

Hiya
one of my tanks is a wooden viv, its 2foot by 1 aswell, i just have 4 round vents in the middle along the back wall (the piece that sits in the drilled hole is round the face is an octogan shape), there is no rule as to what shape vents you need so long as the food cant escape through :-), you can pick up a pack of 4/5 on ebay for about £1.99, probably cheaper, depending on what shape the vent is depends on how you make the holes, for mine i had one of them drill bits that makes big circles, best thing to do is have a little practice on a piece of hardboard or something, hope this helps a little xx
