to all the uk crested gecko owners. how much did you pay and where? im from south east london and the local reptile shop wants £200 for a pinstripe £80 for a flame and £100 for a dalmation (i think this is too much) can you point me in the right direction?

That is a lot, but what you have to remember is that shops have to buy these animals in and then have a mark up to make money on them. if you want to buy cresties the best thing to do is go straight to a breeder as you can probably get a pinner or harli for £70 - £100 depending on sex. if you were after a female you could pay upward of £200 from a breeder, if you dont mind about the sex then getting a hatchling /juvie is your best bet as they are usually cheaper and you could swipe a bargain from £50 for pinners/harlis.

i paid £55 each for mine, i have a harli male and a pinner male. both were brought as unsexed juvies. but now the breeder i brought them from wishes he hadnt sold me the one, well at least not for the price i paid any way....

here they are...
Elmo...

splodge... (bit blurry this pic :S)

hope this helps

search the internet for crested gecko breeders, theres a fair few of them out there, and breeding season is underway now so you should be able to find some nice hatchlings at a fair price

I'll be getting mine from Hamm...a yellow Dalmation for $75...so that's about £30-£40 or there abouts!! But UK prices vary sooo much. Pet shop prices on Cresties are usually pretty dear, so I would shy away unless you see a really nice example. As for Crested Gecko breeders, there are breeders in the UK but the majority don't have websites and only post in classifieds (CaptiveBred is a good place to start).

I know a breeder who sells juvenile cresties for around £0 - £40. She's a really sweet girl who breeds them as a hobby rather than profit so doesn't really mind how much she gets for them. I got two females for £60. She's based in plymouth though.
