Default Trying to escape? - 14-04-2007, 10:28 PM

Hi,

Last few nights, the larger of my two geckos has been trying to open the glass all night..

I took her out for 5mins, then put her back in, but she carries on.. any idea what isn't right?

Hiya, got 2 girl leos, Binksy never been interested in outside world, a little plodder. As for Savannah, she's always got her nose to the edge of the tank. She actully escaped last week and when i put her back, well if they could sulk she was....... sat with her nose pressed againsed the glass for ages and then she'd try somewhere else, lasted ages.

I think it's just differant personalities........

Cheers for the reply, I hope it is just personalities...

When she does it seems like she is trying to climb the glass doors, rubbing her body against it etc, getting quite worried...

i have heard that some reptiles cant see the glass.
such as monitors and bearded dragons which is why they are always up against the glas scratching awayb at it because they dont know what is happening.

might be same 4 leos ?? lol

my two have ALWAYS done this. Once they figure out its the way out theyll keep doing it.. word of warning...it may seem cute but if they are kept in ur room whatever you do DO NOT open it when they scratch it as once they realise if they keep scratching it will eventually open theyll keep doing it..the problem is, at 3am on a school/college/work night this isn't cute! lol

I think that they think if they keep scratching some how it opens automatically. I doubt they know we are the ones opening it I think they believe it's themselves lol. But like I said, if you don't want to hear scratching all night don't even think about opening that door, you have to let them do it for a while and they'll stop realising it isn't getting them any where.
