Default Smaller Alternative to Bearded Dragons? - 27-02-2007, 11:24 PM

I really love the look of Bearded Dragons, but they grow too big for the space I have avaliable.

Does anyone know of a Lizard which is similar in look but smaller?

Yeah they look ace, but they are a bit too big still. They need a reasonably big setup, and I have no room

Hi, I had exactly the same problem. Love them all. Infact the bigger ther better. There is a "Rhino iguana" at my local reptile shop. I would give anything to bring him home. I have an ever growing group of Leopard geckos. Binks, Savannah and soon to add Sunrise and Sunshine.................. Good luck..............

YEP! There is a related reptile to the bearded dragon which is smaller & are happy to live several females to a male & that is the RANKIN DRAGON - they eat & act the same, very tame but do not get a big & unlike some bearded dragons these do like a bit of company from their own species. I'm not sure what colour phase you can get but the ones i have seen here in the UK are usually brown , with yellow sometimes orange in colour. Give it a few months for the reptile egg baby boom to start growing as they are on the reptile shops list this year, more so than last year. The price usually stat at about £65.00 + each. Good reptile shops will hold one for you.

If you could get hold of one, then a Pogona henrylawsoni - the smaller available species of bearded dragon. I'm not sure about availability in the UK but they seem to be common in Europe
