I got Clyde the big male leopard gecko. He has a deformed back which isnt causing him any problems. He has a little problem with shedding but I help him. Eating and poo is normal but he cannot seem to climb. He doesn't get a grip of the wall or glass etc, and i was wondering if this might a problem for him ? The vet has checked him ot and he says he is healthy and okay
Sorry, is this a leo or a crestie? Assuming that it's a crestie, did his inability to climb seem to coincide with him shedding? Cresties can experience problems climbing if they're about to shed or if there's retained shed on their feet, which can be quite difficult to see. You could try popping the littlun in a cricket tub with 1cm or so of lukewarm water for 10-15 minutes or so, then gently clean the his with a moist cotton bud to see if this resolves the problem.
Also just to check: what supplements are you using? If you're offering feeders, are they gutloaded? I only ask because climbing problems can be a symptom of MBD, so it's worth eliminating that possibility by checking your crestie's diet too, especially as you've mentioned that he has a deformed back (this can also be a symptom). Do you have any pics of him?
no skin on him and only had him a couple of days. It does look like MBD or broken back, ive got to take him to the vets asap (when I get money)
I feed all my geckos and lizards with a supplierment. They all have cal dusted on their live food and gutloaded. (but the crestie doesnt seem to touch the live food, and the owner said he doesnt like it) Im also giving him a d3 and vits in a fruit flavoured paste, but he will only eat this if you syringe it. Which the owner said...
