I've noticed my gecko is staying in his hot end in the cave, it doesn't seem to be coming out at night, can this be normal?

My daughter found some skin in the tank, it has a moist area in the cooler end but is preferring the heat.

If you think about it, being cold and wet is not a good idea. Move the moist hide to the center at least where it will be warmer, but not over the heat mat.
