Talking New Owner - 07-07-2010, 01:07 PM

Hello,

Im a newbie to this site and to owning my first crested gecko, Slightly by accident I now have a 2month old harly.

I have done as much research as I can but there is still one thing I cant seem to get my head around....

I know about CGD and fresh fruit and baby food but crickets on the other hand.... I know the crickets I have to feed him will be very small but I also know it is a bad idea to just leave them in the viv, Do I try and catch them one by one? then try and feed him/he?

I wanted to give him/her the choice of bugs as well as CGD and fruit.

Thanks for reading

ive only just aquired a crestie myself but ive kept reg geckoes for 4 years, i have always fed them outwith their habitat its a lot easier than fussing with their habitat trying to catch the bugs still in there that bite.

I thought that the CDG eliminated the need to feed them bugs.. i was planning to keep the bugs just for treats. I feed mine the 2 part diet - peach flavor that he seems to love

I don't mix it with baby food as i have heard it is not very nutritional for them, but i do give him tiny bits of real fruit.

regarding the bugs if u put them in the fridge for a while they will get less jumpy. then dust the bugs, add them to a container.. he will 'hunt' them

hope that is of some help
