Ive just got my daughter a leopard gecko and reading all the books and websites there is such differing information.

What temperature should its home be? when I put the red bulb on the tank goes up to over 30. I have a vivarium that is wooden sides and top and glass doors.

Ive also been told two different things about feeding, I was told by shop to give him 10 crickets daily but then read i should feed every other day???

Please help!

Once again I do not own a leopard gecko but As people rarely reply i'm trying to help people in trouble.

This link is a care sheet from ron templar

http://www.leopardgecko.com/leopard-gecko-care

In this link it gets to "food"

Keepers can offer two appropriately sized insects for every inch of a leopard gecko’s total length every other day. Therefore, a 4-inch-long gecko would receive eight mealworms three to four times a week

Do you have a UTH? It's important for leopard geckos. Your temp range should be about 24 on the cool side to 34c on the hot end. If he is a baby or juvenile they should eat daily. Adults every other day or less.

I have 2 leo's, and my fella's most days, ALL of them have different eating habits, my male came from a home where he was starved and now he would gladly eat about 20 crickets a day, my other gecko varies, i offer each day and if shes hungry she will take, if she doesnt want them then i take them out and try again another time, my fella's has weeks where even though theres food there she wont touch it at all and can go upto about 8 days sometimes, then have a little pig out,

i have a daylight bulb on a timer for a few hours each day, the temp varies from about 29 - 32 degrees in both tanks (one is in a glass exo, she has a small heat rock which she'll sit on for a few minutes before she wants out, the other is in a wooden viv with a medium heat mat), they have a diet of the black/brown crickets with the odd hopper treat,

i hope this helps a little, they are the easiest little creatures to look after once you have a routine sorted, i have a few different reptiles, so had my fair share of problems/worries so if you need any help with anything just ask :-)
