Default New Gecko Setup. Which Gecko? - 17-03-2008, 06:41 PM

I have rushed out and bought these! No Lizard's yet, But i was hoping to buy Day Gecko Lizard's. 2 or 3 for a 45cm*45cm*45cm tank, But i am not sure now, I have read Sand shoiuld not be used, Can any provide advice on most suitable Gecko's for this set up? Standlings or Yellow headed maybe? Hopefully?

Habistat Mat Stat 100w,Exo Terra Heatwave Desert Mat (Large), Exo Terra Water Dish (Small) ,Exo Terra Feeding Dish (Medium) ,Exo Terra Bendable Jungle Vine (Medium) ,Aquarium Systems Flexi-Branch (Medium) , Exo Terra Desert Sand (Red) ,Exo Terra Digital Thermometer ,Exo Terra Digital Hygrometer ,Lucky Reptile Pump-Up Sprayer (1.5ltr),Exo Terra Reptile Cave (Medium) ,Exo Terra Snake Cave (Small).

If not day lizards, Can you recommend a lizard easy to look after lizard. And fun / tame for kids to watch. Hopefully using the equipment/Sand i have already purchased. If not i will sell what i have and by extra/different. I used a guide from a online shop to a beginners setup for a gecko, How wrong i was.

To be 100% honest with you the only gecko i can think of that would be ok on sand would be an african fat tail.
Leos would be no good in that kind of set up and i doubt day geckos would do well
You could try cresties but again you would need to get rid of the sand

Thk,s, i think i will go for stenodactylid geckos, and sell the other goods on ebay or some where similar, i have sand and desert heat mat/thermostat and tank, so will not cost much more for extra's.
