I don't think they are meant to be kept in vivs to my knowledge due to the issues with ventilation etc. A tortoise table would be much better for him.

I should be posting a profile of the Hermans Tortoise to www.offbeatpets.com in the next few days; I'll need some advice as to whether its 100% correct or not.

tbh, he's so small i'd rather him be in there and safe, than walking around the house and either be lost or stood on, he's only really in there at night, as we take him out in the garden most of the afternoons.

do you realise that your killing him keeping him in a viv you can make a tort table very cheaply so it dont have to cost you a lot and feeding him on dry food is really bad really all you have to do is think of where they come from in the wild then think what they eat its mostly weed i dont think they would get dry food in the wild this is why theres not a lot of old tort because nobody knew how to feed and look after them there is a forum just for our little hermann torts and its www.hermann-tortoise.co.uk and its great for any question you want try it out

No your not killing your tortoises by keeping him a viv. Providing it has the right ventilation and he doesn't climb the glass he will be fine F A C T.
