Default Little guys lost his Mojo - 01-03-2010, 08:05 PM

Hello people!

I am here to ask for advice, guidance, wisdom and cresti help please.

I am a relitive newb to the Crestie world; having purchased Eddie Lizzard in november; it was instant love - the way he stared, and licked his eye; it was that moment there I knew I must have him.

He was a cheeky scamp, fast as you like; racing and diving and everywhere then nowhere.

And now

This has stopped.

My first concern, and its making me sick with worry, is that he won't eat. We have fed crickets, Repasi, fruit mushes. He will take a little from me when i hold him but turns away after perhaps two splotches worth (perhaps half the size of a ladies pinkie nail (and not the acrylic ones)). Last week, I reduced my handling and hand fed him twice, he ate a little and I have not noticed any droppings in his viv.

Saying this, when I did just get the pot of fruit mush out , he walked to it stuck his head in; took two big mouthfulls and promotly digested and pooed...long poos with black in, and a little grainy too. Maybe too much info... my worry here is that there has been no crickets in the viv for a good week and a bit (they had only the big ones locally so we have to wait for the intsey ones to arrive)

He also dosn't seem to move, or want to. I wake up and check on my little guy. Get home and yep, sure enough - he is in his hut - the back of the viv; under the plant.

I do handle him and try to coax him out. He just stares.

I'd love to have him checked by the vet - but I simply can't afford it. I don't want my guy to die - yet whatever I try, he seems to snub it.

If anyone can offer any advice please do, and I will listen intently and thank you for your time.

Yours Fiz

OK, firstly how long ago was it that the littlun's behaviour changed? What are the temperatures in your viv? And the humidity? Have these been roughly constant or have there been any large fluctuations (especially at around the time your crestie stopped eating)? You mention the poo; was it hard and just slightly moist or runny / sloppy? Has anything changed in the enclosure / room in which the crestie is housed? Do you have a recent pic of the littlun that you could post (just to get an idea of his overall condition)?

If you can answer the above, that might shed some light on what's going on.

Also has he lost any weight? What substrate have you been using in the viv?
