Default Heat lamps, how much heat ? - 12-09-2010, 03:58 PM

Hi

O/H is worried that a ceramic heater or reptileone ceramic heater will get too hot.

The tank is 36cm deep from the top grill to the floor, glass tank with air vents.

I say with a thermostat, it will get as hot as you set it, he's worried it will overheat the tank.

How hot do these get ?

Any known problems ?

Do they get hot enough to burn your hand ? or a gentle heat ?

Thanks, spottymint.

Hi

Many thanks for asking, he's fine.

Found out his thermostat was not working properly and now removed from matt it was sold with & things have warmed up.

He now has a reptile one, fan light/heater & he's seems ok.

I have noticed how quiet things are, but sleepydee seems great at helping.

How many leo's do you have ? Have you been keeping them long ?

Spotty

im a total novice to leo's , used to have lizards when a youth , so I have some experience , in hindsight I shouldnt have got the juvinile male really , should have got a female , then when the baby gets older I could have put them together , but male/female !!! I dont want eggs yet , plus I gather he will pester the life out of her . the male isnt too keen on being handled still , but the baby doesnt mind , she sits in my hand and picks out mealies from the dish , he eats crickets from my hand though , I will try to take some descent pictures in the week and upload them
good luck
