Based upon observations of my geckos, I really don't think that there's a noticeable difference between males and females in terms of 'friendliness'. Some individuals may be more tolerant of handling than others, but it really doesn't seem determined by sex.
Geckos of most species don't actually need companionship, so are perfectly fine living by themselves. In fact, they may well find it more stressful to live with another gecko (due to the possibility of bullying etc). Although you can theoretically keep two females together (never two males though), you should be aware that they may fight and therefore need separating on a permanent basis (not all geckos tolerate cohabiting with another).
