Default gut-loading - 04-07-2008, 01:44 PM

hi, was just wondering what differed foods and things people use to gut load the insects for their geckos food. because i read it was really good to do this, but i was wondering what would be best to use, or more long lasting. and what methods do you use.?
Thanks...!

Hello,

I keep my locusts in one of these

These are good for giving h2o to your live bugs

The only powdered food I give to the bugs is

You can also give them potato, carrot, green leaves, dandelions, broccoli...pretty much any veg.

Haha well....that's a whole different issue.

I can't stand bugs on me so I usually hold the tank while my mum opens the locust box at the end and shakes them out into the tank, after most of them are in the tank she takes the egg box that comes in the plastic box from the shop and shakes the excess bugs off into the tank. Sometimes a couple jump out but my mum just picks them up and throws them into the tank.

Also, I always put the calcium powder and bug grub in the tank before I put the bugs in.

I suppose another option of getting the bugs into the tank quickly would be to put the crickets/locusts in the fridge for 10 mins which will make them still so they won't jump/run away.
