Default Frogs and Noise - 28-02-2007, 12:27 AM

Alot of the frogs I see are wonderful, and I was thinking about using them in a mixed vivarium.

Someone put me off the idea saying that they are incredibly noisy at night and even worse around breeding season.

Is it really that loud?

If you can get used to the sound of crickets I am sure you will get used to the sound of frogs -though the frogs are louder. It can also depend on the type of frog or toad.

Depends on the frog.

General advice about mixing that I've picked up from other forums is DON'T. you run all sorts of risks of disease transfer. You have to allow that al the inhabitants must have the same environmental requirements etc.

That said i do know of folks who keep Green anoles and american green treefrogs together.

Surely mixing like in any other animal keeping is about mixing environments and size and aggresiveness.

ive been keeping tropical fish for years and know what works with what now.

As for frogs id love to get into these as loved tree frogs for as long as i can remember. At my local pet shop they have one particular type of small tree frog which is incredibly loud so i gues as stated above its all about a bit of research
