Hello all,

I have recently brought my first little Gecko after years of looking into them and i am so glad that i have.

We have had her (we have been told its a her) since 27th Aug and she has been tolieting for the last 3 nights as well as eating about 3-5 mealworm per night for the last 4 nights and 2 locusts night before last all gutloaded and dust.
However this morning i woke up to find some skin of on the cold hide one in the shape of a foot is this normal? ,what sort of size do i need for a humid hide? and she is still quite timid how can i check properly if she has sheded without picking her up?

Sorry if any of these questions seem silly ,but i never thought i would feel this maternal or worry this much!
Thank you in advance xx:D

Hi

We have just taken on a Leo, about 2 years & Male (from looking online).

He is on kitchen paper at the moment, how safe is sand for him ?

As we have heard of impaction problems.

We are adding calcium to his diet, water & dusting his food.

Does this sound ok ?

He is fed a mix of crickets & locasts & may have a waxworm as a treat (mostly fed those before).

Are they happy alone ? or prefer a mate ?

Any tips appreciated, we have done our homework on the net. :)

Hi all,

I am looking to get a new lizard next year once I've done all my research and got the equipment etc. but I'm having trouble deciding what I want.

Because the only experience with lizards I've got is with leopard geckos I was wondering what you could recommend to me.

I've had a quick browse at bearded dragons and bosc monitors but I can't seem to find a solid answer on whether they are handleable or good for a novice in lizards other than leos.

I've read somewhere that "ackies" are a great starter monitor but I would like to know what you guys would suggest.

I would like something tameable and handleable.

So please put forward some suggestions and reasons why they'd be suitable - It'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

hi everyone,
i have a set up consisting of 3 leopard geckos 2 females and 1 male. both my females actively respond to feeding at night time (when there out and about and active) but my male patternless albino shows no interest in food at all.
yesterday i came home from work at about half five an noticed him poking about so in attempt to get him to eat (hasnt eaten for 2-3 days) i offered him a locust and he took it, so i fed him his normal amount and let him be.
he didnt feed last night when i fed the girls, so i offered him food when i got home today and hes had a right munch out again.
is it normal for them to do this?
ive had family say it might be because he is blind cos alot of albino animals suffer from poor sight. but he seems to see his food in the day fine.

Thanks

Hi

I'm new to this and just setting up a 4' viv for a leopard gecko - put heat mat one end under the carpet. A couple of basic questions
Have put the Habistat Thermostat sensor in the middle of the viv but does it go under or on top of the carpet?
I have a thermometer with 2 sensors - have put these at each end of viv again on top of the carpet - is this right.
I'm trying to keep warm end at 28/29c and cooler end 21/22c - is this OK?

Thanks for your help.

Hey so i got a new leo from gumtree and she is lovely really well tempered and great to handle. But i have a couple of questions first she seems huge compared to my male although he is on the skinny side just starting to gain the weight lost during his little hunger strike lol

She just seems abit on the large side but everything about her is a good deal bigger than my other the eyes esp. The question is is it normal for her not to lift herself completly up when she moves ? she keeps her belly real close to the ground if not sliding along it.

She also has a little skin left over from a bad shed on her belly whats the best way to go about removing it without stressing her too much ?

And lastly she only has tiny little toes on her is this going to be a problem for her ? I think she only has one full toe left so only one claw to help her grip. The toes on the fron are close to a normal size but those on the back are little more than nubs.

Thanks
