Well, is the glass/tank new? the surface may be really slippery, overtime grime, limescale from water etc etc will stick to glass making it easyier to grip for geckos, i'm not saying this is the problem its just a guess. If the gecko can't climb normal objects like logs then i really would worrie. My leopards try to climb glass - no matter how much i tell them its impossible they still try :-). Not all surfaces are climable for geckos with pads, most are.. I hope this helped..

Generally speaking, I wouldn't expect a crestie to experience problems climbing glass, no matter how clean it is.
OP: is the crestie due to shed? This can sometimes cause them to temporarily lose their ability to climb smooth surfaces. They can also suffer problems from retained shed around their toes if the humidity levels in the viv aren't high enough or from food stuck to their toes if they've run through their CGD (my Rhacs seem to do this far too frequently ). If your crestie's still experiencing problems, I'd place some kitchen towel in a feeder tub and add some shallow (1cm should be deep enough) lukewarm water (make sure that it's not too hot) and put your crestie in the tub for 15 minutes or so (keep an eye on it at all times though, just to be on the safeside). That should soften the shed sufficiently for it to come off, although you might have to help and remove any stubborn material using a moistened cotton bud. This video shows the basic process.
However, if the problem continues or if your crestie has additional problems (e.g. any signs of swollen / bent limbs, or if its back or tail look strangely kinked), I'd recommend a trip to the vet for a check-up, as an inability to climb can sometimes be a symptom of metabolic bone disease.
