Default Can anyone help? - 01-12-2011, 12:48 AM

I have a leopard gecko that is about a year old now. a couple of months ago, when he shed, the skin stuck to one of his eyeballs, and didnt come off. I had been spraying him, and provided him a moist hide, but it wouldnt come off. Then he shed again, and this time it stuck to the other eyeball. I have been soaking it,and wrapping him in a warm damp cloth at night, and he has a rock he can scratch on, but it still sticks. Last week, he finally pulled the first one off, but a big chunk of yellow stuff was hanging out of his eye for a while after, and he hasnt opened that eye since. Since he hasnt been able to see to find his food in his cage, I have been watering down chicken baby food, and feeding him with an eyedropper, and that seemed to work for a while, he was having regular bowel movements, so I knew he was at least getting some food in him. Now we have a new problem: he is dragging his back half of his body, not moving either of his back legs. I have checked to make sure it wasnt because he was constipated, and he doesnt seem to be, what can I do to help the poor guy?

I do not own a leopard or know much about them, but you should of taken him to the vet, it would of been cheap consultation + eye drops to loosen the shed.

Baby food stops calcium absorbtion so he probably has MBD, that maybe why he has lost the use of his back legs.

I am replying only as a guide that you must seek veterinary help, Hopefully you can help the little guy

good luck

I agree, never feed baby food. It's important they are getting calcium w/D in their diet. Vitamin deficiency can also cause shedding problems. They also need a vitamin supplement. It sounds like he will need a trip to the vet asap.
