Question sex - 15-08-2007, 11:12 PM

i like you are going to attempt to breed locust ive looked at your info and that of other sites there is on thing that for some reason i cannot find and that is how do you find out the sex of the locusts. ive spoken to the pet shop where i get my locusts from which ive found out they are desert locust they are black and yellow, and they say that they as far as they know are randomly chossen. i just dont want to try and breed locust and get frustrated cause they wont mate just to find out they are all the same sex.. so how do you know and or can someone tell me a place to get decent locust from as this would be a great help ty.

Just order some Large Locusts and you'll get a mixture of male/female.

I think you can get 3 tubs of locusts from ebay for £6.75, this will give you about 30 - 40 locusts. That's enough to get a breeding project going.

Default giving it a shot - 19-08-2007, 08:35 PM

well after all my research i am now giving it a shot at breeding locusts i like ned and mantis have a similar set up its just in a bigger terreriumso i have a bigger heat mat and after what ive read today a more powerful basking light possible heat mat as well, its only the first day and all the locusts look happy and healthy in there new home so hopefully they will be up for getting to know each other better. ive used sand for my laying pot but i think with mantis`s sucsess ill try vermiculite as well ive also got some moister gel as well as feeding them veg they seem to like cucumber but ill be trying different things i understand that it could take days up to weeks for anything to happen ah well wish me luck
