Aw, I am so sorry to hear that the littlun's having further problems: I was hoping that they'd be responding well to treatment by now. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for both of you.
Have you discussed the problems that the littlun's experiencing with the pet shop that sold him / her to you? If I was in your position, I would do exactly what you're doing: keep him / her and seek veterinary treatment for them myself. However, I think I'd also ask the vet to write a report detailing the medical problems that the garg is experiencing, together with an estimate of the cost of that treatment. I'd then take a copy to the pet shop and ask them for a contribution to the bills that you're having to pay because they sold you an ill animal.
Although this might not be the fault of the pet shop per se (especially if they only recently took delivery of the garg from a breeder), maybe it would raise issues that they need to be aware of with regard to the health of the animals that they're offering for sale
