Only if the female is mature enough for breeding and even then it's hit and miss as to whether or not they will 'hit it off'

Even then they should only be in together until they have done the deed, otherwise the male will just keep on breeding with the female which will stress her out and potentially cause health problems in the long run.

So TBH unless you prepared for the breeding/laying of eggs/potential bullying and fighting I would advise not to do it for the safety and well being of the female.

*nods* as Mowgli has already said I really would not recommend keeping a male and female together all the time due to the stress and potential health risks that would bring to the female.
Even with breeding (and that's what would happen) many breeders including myself only put the males with the females for a short period of time for mating and then they are removed.
There's a more indepth section on breeding on my website which covers these points.
